Intergenerational and Racial Trauma

Intergenerational and Racial Trauma Therapy
Compassionate and empowering environment where you can honor and work through difficult racial experiences, be liberated from generational patterns, expand, and thrive. A dive into deep-rooted racial and intergenerational trauma, including interpersonal racism, microaggressions, internalized racism, and marginalization.

INTERGENERATIONAL Trauma & Racial Trauma

As humans, we create and pass down our experiences through story-telling. The truth is often subjective, and there may be different perspectives that may or may not be true in your lineage. Intergenerational trauma lives through the pains your ancestors struggled with during their lifetime. These oppressive memories and survived traumas are then passed down through generations, stemming from epigenetic changes in your DNA, your family’s learned behaviors, and the collective lived experiences of your oppressed and marginalized identities.

You hold tremendous weight for your past & your ancestral past. Your struggles are compounded by the pressures and pains that come from the societal force that conforms you to acculturate and assimilate to the dominant culture, which still discriminates against you for all of your intersectionalities of identities. Over time, the allostatic load of acculturation stresses turns into racial trauma and looks like code-switching, imposter syndrome, internalized racism, poor self-esteem, etc.

Therapy is a place for you to put a voice to your unique stories, connect with your ancestral knowledge, tap into your resilience, and empower you in reclaiming your home that is situated within you. My work with you expands your awareness and helps you avoid perpetuating patterns, invite liberation from internalized oppressive thoughts, and thrive.

Intergenerational healing work also invites a deep dive into your families in a neutral or perhaps even more positive light. This helps you better explore the complexities of your family history, gain compassion for yourself and your ancestors’ experiences, and possible forgiveness that leads to long-lasting healing.

I’m both a survivor of trauma within my lifetime and of intergenerational trauma.
